Head of Media Fundamentals and Production Technology / EBU
Dr. Hans Hoffmann is EBU Senior Manager and head of media fundamental and production technologies in the EBU Technology and Innovation department.
In the EBU he is leading a top expert team, and working together with the EBU Members, on emerging media technology strategies such as immersive media, IP and cloud infrastructures, Data, Metadata and Artificial Intelligence, and how the industry is managing manage its constant digital transformations through open innovations and applied innovation management. Hans is the chair of the Broadcast Technology Futures groups which consist of the senior managers of the R&D centers of BBC, RAI, NHK, VRT, YLE and CBC and co-chairs the Forum of Advanced Media in Europe (FAME) and the Inter-SDO group. He has a long and broad history in SMPTE such as past Standards VP, Finance VP and Executive VP. He was the first European President of the SMPTE 2021-22 in leading the transformation of the Society. Hans is a fellow of the SMPTE and recipient of the Richard-Theile Medal of the FKTG in 2021. Previously he has been with the Institute fuer Rundfunktechnik in Munich for 9 years working as project manager and scientific staff.
